BOB
STOVER
maintenance coordinator,
ALSTOM Power Conversion
If hard work has its rewards, Bob
Stover may be the richest man in Pittsburgh. Stover, 54, has
consistently gone above and beyond the call, as a U.S. soldier who
earned a Purple Heart in Vietnam, as a coal miner and as a 27-year
veteran of Pennsylvania steel mills.
At ALSTOM, a manufacturer of industrial
automation control and drive systems, Stover spends 60 percent of his
time doing hands-on maintenance — complex electrical and plumbing
projects. The rest is spent overseeing service contracts for
landscaping, cleaning and HVAC. He does all that, and then a little
more.
He recently saved the company thousands
of dollars during a facility expansion and restructuring project. When
ALSTOM received pricey estimates for new office furniture, Bob spent
off time finding a supplier of quality, economical, slightly used
furniture.
In another instance, he administered
CPR to a co-worker who suffered a massive heart attack.
"Bob Stover is the glue that never
loses its grip," says company human resources worker Lynn Yohe.
"He is the few, the proud, the maintenance man."
