Jay
Bogle
lean
facilitator, Letterkenny Army Depot
Letterkenny
isn’t your average plant. It’s a military depot that services and
enhances the performance of technologies such as the Patriot Missile
System. Jay Bogle, far from an average hourly plant employee, works
here.
Jay
was one of the first facilitators involved with lean enterprise
transformation at the site. He became one of the main drivers behind
the Patriot Missile System value stream, a lean transformation that
generated more than $18 million in savings. On this project, he
coordinated logistics, performed cycle time observations, facilitated
rapid improvement events, and tracked and monitored the savings.
In
addition to the Patriot project, Jay facilitated improvements to the
Biological Integrated Detection System, a large shelter used to detect
the presence of chemicals such as anthrax. This series of events
produced savings of more than $1 million, and reduced staffing from
seven to four, turnaround time from three days to two, and hours per
unit from 130 to 80.
When
he isn’t leading lean projects, he provides training and assistance
to new lean core team personnel.
