Screw machine set-up and operator
Delo Screw Products
Delaware, OH
Delo Screw Products produces precision-machined components for major
industries including plumbing, gas and hydraulics. The company
processes a variety of materials through its facility including
steel, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, copper and plastic.
“Dave knows the New Britain 52 and 63 screw machines like the back
of his hand,” says Warren Harte, general manager. “When you go to
him and need something done, he gets it done. Whenever we have a
problem with a machine, the operators will ask Dave if he can take a
look at it and he’s always very willing to step up and do that.”
Currently, Delo is designing an internal training manual and Dave is
the lead operator helping the engineering team put it together. The
engineers provide the technical knowledge, but for the benefit of
future operators, Dave provides the hands-on approach.
“There are a number of manuals you can buy that tell you how to do
these things, but Dave is giving us the operator’s perspective,”
Harte explains.
The company is building the manual to offer both basic training and
advanced techniques for more experienced operators.
“We’re trying to streamline and standardize the learning process,
for everyone from new hires coming in the door to operators with
several years experience,” Harte notes. “And Dave’s knowledge will
be the standard.”
