| Fine-tuning the mag
by Paul V. Arnold
As I’m sure you’ve noticed last issue and
will notice in this issue, MRO Today continues to tweak the
publication, all in an effort to make it more meaningful and important
to you. Heck, we preach change all the time. Why not practice it as
well?
Here is the basis for some of the changes.
Showing off Showcase: Over the past few
years, a number of you have suggested that MRO Today publish a
compendium of new products that can be used throughout the year for
making purchasing decisions. Those suggestions have led to this issue,
which includes our first-ever Product Showcase. We hope to continue
this Showcase concept on an annual basis. So, after looking through
this issue, please let me know if the format meets your particular MRO
product information needs. E-mail your comments to me at igwebeditor@milomediapub.com.
Reviewing Product Preview:
A new feature
called Product Preview debuted last issue. Unlike our Product News section, which has traditionally
highlighted MRO products currently available for purchase through your
local industrial distributor, Product Preview highlights products that
will be available to you in the coming weeks and months. In these
information bites, product manufacturers give you a sneak preview into
their upcoming products and the new technologies being incorporated
into these products. Is this information helpful to you? Let
me know.
Chris crosses over:
As the result of feedback
supplied by you, the focus of Chris Christensen’s MRO Coach column
has shifted from inventory management to maintenance management. The
adjustment gives Chris the opportunity to draw upon his decade-long
experience of leading maintenance departments at large U.S.
manufacturing firms. If you have questions or topics you’d like
Chris to write about, e-mail him at cchristensen@execed.bus.wisc.edu.
New-look
logo: While we were making some of these editorial format changes, we
thought it also would be a good time to alter the magazine’s logo.
While the old MRO Today logo suited us well for the magazine’s first
seven years, it always did have kind of a 1980s-ish feel to it. So, we
thought we’d pep it up a bit and make it more modern. Graphic
designer Bridget Stebly gets the credit for the sleek redesign.
I hope you like the new look as well as the
new editorial components. If you have additional ideas to make the
magazine more useful to you, bring them to my attention. I and this
magazine are here to serve you.
