A
solution to the propellant can-troversy
MRO product manufacturers come up with some neat ideas to address the
needs of their customers. One example is the new Sprayon Liqui-Sol
line of lubricants, cleaners and specialty maintenance products from
Diversified Brands.
Liqui-Sol
products feature spray triggers, a feature that eliminates the need
for pressurized propellants.
No
propellant means each can is filled with 100 percent usable product.
No waste? That’s nice.
And, with no propellant, safety concerns dealing with can storage,
application and disposal are greatly reduced.
Unlike
aerosol cans, when it’s disposal time, you don’t have to puncture
the container; capture the propellants with special filters; drain,
collect and sort the can’s residues; or pay for disposal of the
collected residue. You just remove the trigger and trash the can as
regular, non-hazardous waste. You also may recycle the empty can as
scrap metal. Keep the trigger, though. It’s reusable.
The
product costs a little more than propellant-based equivalents, but the
Liqui-Sol line seems to be designed with total cost in mind.
