What was the problem you were trying to solve?
EXAMPLE — One of our manufacturer customers used a solid carbide end mill to machine cast iron components in a horizontal CNC machine. The high-volume operation machined each part in just over 30 seconds, at a cost of about 82 cents per component.

What was the solution you put into place?
EXAMPLE -- We recommended replacing the end mill with an indexable insert milling cutter. The operation required four passes instead of one to complete each cut, but cutting speed increased substantially.

What were the results you achieved?
EXAMPLE -- Switching from a solid carbide end mill to an indexable insert produced a higher feed rate, longer tool life, better finish and an overall lower cost per piece. Cutting time dropped from 0.615 minutes (37 seconds) to 0.251 minutes (15 seconds), lowering the machining cost per part from 82 cents to 33 cents. Total annual cost savings was $10,420.
